Welcome to Draft Evolution!
My name is Jeffrey Abbott, and I'm a writer and editor.
My number one goal is to help you produce the best work possible. I love working one-on-one with people to achieve an artistic vision. I'm not happy until you're happy.
Hire me to find those little errors before your readers do.
I pride myself on being delightful to work with, punctual, and honest.
Just need me to look for grammar and punctuation errors?
$15 for an article up to 1,000 words. I'll have it back to you the next business day or it's free.
Heck, you can even buy 10 express proofs for $135 if that's what you need. Express edit packages expire after 60 days!
Need me to do more than just correct grammar and punctuation? What you need is a copyeditor.
$30 for a 1,000 word article. Same rules apply as the express proofreading service - the only difference is the pricing.
With this service, I'll focus on grammar and punctuation, but I'll go a few steps further and edit for readability, consistency, voice, and other "big picture" things.
If you're an author or blogger in search of a steady copyeditor to help you perfect your posts before they hit the world-wide press, let's talk about becoming partners. We can set up an agreement that allows me to make your writing as crisp and clean as can be.

Long form edits
Have a longer work that needs to be checked for grammatical errors and punctuation mishaps? I'd love to help you make it the best it can be, whether it's a novel, an essay, a dissertation, or a personal memoir.
Ready to get started? Let me know!
Do you need some fancy copywriting done for a website or brochure? How about some technical documentation for an app or a helicopter? Whatever it is, I can help you find the best way to explain it to your customers.

What to expect
What happens after you contact me? When I receive your email, I get right to work.
If you request an express edit for a blog post or other short-form article, I'll get to work on it as soon as I possibly can. My goal is to return that article in less than 12 hours. We work out the contract and payment up front, and I start working immediately after that's settled. If you hire me for an express edit, it becomes a top priority for me. Once the work is finished, I'll send a quick invoice and then the edits are all yours.
If you request another service, I'll be in touch! We can work out the details and figure out how to help each other. I can't wait to hear from you!
I accept payment through PayPal, Stripe and Square, whichever you're more comfortable with.
What others are saying
Here are a few of the kind, kind words that clients have shared.
I have been working with Jeff for several years and highly recommend his editorial skills. In addition to wrangling my words on shawnblanc.net, he always uncovers the actual meaning I'm trying to communicate and works with me to make my writing more clear and enjoyable. He is fun and easy to work with. Over the years as my editor he's also become my friend.
- Shawn Blanc, shawnblanc.net
I graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2007 with a degree in English and Communications. Since then, I've worked at a large international software company as a technical writer, a project manager at an IT consulting firm, and a blog writer for several publications. I've written technical software documentation and instructions, whitepapers, and diagrams, and also worked on a large team of about a dozen other writers. As part of this team, I did a lot of editing. I also have two years of experience in journalism for a local weekly paper. In short, I like writing of all sorts and am comfortable with all major styles.
When I read magazines, blogs, books, and website articles, I can't help but notice the nit-picky errors. I don't hold it against the author. In fact, it hardly bothers me as I'm reading, but I still notice it.
It's a strength. Hire me to find those little errors before your readers do. You'll appreciate it, they'll appreciate it, and I'll appreciate it.
